Activities of the Alumni Association (2005 -2006) :
The Alumni Association of BSA Crescent Engineering College has carried out the following activities during the academic year 2005-2006.
Alumni Scholarship scheme: To encourage the economically needy and academically deserving students, the Alumni Association constituted an Alumni Scholarship scheme last year and 8 students from various departments were awarded Alumni Scholarships this year, in addition to the last year awardees. Prof. S. Peer Mohamed, Correspondent distributed scholarships to the students during the college day celebrations.
Guest Lectures: Guest lectures were delivered by alumni for the benefit of final year and pre-final year students on topics such as “Embedded Navigational Systems”, ” Business Process Outsourcing” and “How to face the competitive world”, from Red Hat USA and Nestle USA.
Participation in Social activities: Participated in NSS camp conducted by our college
unit, and donated stationary and educational aids for Rs. 2,000/- to the Govt. High School, Kumizhi.
Alumni Book Case: An Alumni book case with books sponsored by Association and also donated by alumni were installed in the main library on Technical, General knowledge, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and other competitive exams for the benefit of final year students.
Meet during NBA Accreditation Committee visit: The Alumni association facilitated the Alumni meeting with the visiting National Board of Accreditation Committee members, when the NBA members visited our college for accrediting the departments.
Participation in Independence Day celebrations: The Alumni association participated in the Independence Day celebrations, and distributed stationery and other educational aids to the Govt. Primary school, Otteri (Vandalur) Chennai-48. on Aug.15, 2005.
Alumni Mementos- 18th Graduates Day: On 18th Graduates Day mementos (file and visiting card holder) were presented to all the graduating students by the Alumni Association.
Alumni Website: An exclusive web site (www.crescentalumni.org) for the alumni association is being developed through a professional organization. The objective of the site is to provide a platform for improved interaction among alumni and create better networking. It is designed to hold the data base of entire 18 years of alumni records. Some of the prominent features include updating profile, searching the alumni based on various items such as year of passed out, specialization, country etc.,
Activities of the Alumni Association (2004 -2005) : The Annual General-Body Meeting (AGM) of the Alumni Association for the year 2004 was held on September 25, 2004 at GRT Grand Days (Convention center). T. Nagar. About 400 Alumni members participated in the meeting.
The following are the important activities that took place during the Annual General Body meeting.
Mr. K. Bhaskar, President, welcomed the gathering, Dr. K.P. Mohammed, Principal delivered the Chief Guest address and requested the Alumni members to participate and interact with IIPC and EDP Cells and also informed about the 2nd Decennial celebrations planned by the college.
Ms. G. Kavitha, General Secretary, presented the activities of the Association for the year 2003 - 2004. Mr. P.D. Jeyakumar, Treasurer, presented the financial report for the year 2003-04.
Alhaj. V.N.A Jalal, GM/AIIF shared his views with the members and requested for new initiatives such as prizes for university rank holders and he also informed about the new Convention center built in the college.
Alumni News Letter: The first issue of Alumni news letter was released by Alhaj. V.N.A. Jalal, GM/AIIF and the copies were distributed to all the members.
Alumni Website: Dr. K.P. Mohammed, Principal, launched the Alumni web site (Ver.1). Mr. P. Ramesh, Executive member presented the highlights of the website to the audience. Ms. Sharmila Shankar, Executive member designed and developed this website with the help of students.
Interaction Session: During the meet there was an interaction session with the members, and the members suggested the activities that can be taken up in the subsequent years.
Mr. Ali. Asgar Kachwalla, Vice President, proposed the vote of thanks.

Alumni Appreciation Award : On the occasion of the 2nd Decennial celebrations of B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Engineering College, the Alumni Association has organized a programme, on 19th Dec. 2004, and honored the faculty members (16 Teaching , 33 Non-Teaching ), with Appreciation Awards, for their valuable contribution and service to the students of our college since the first batch.
Guest Lectures : Guest Lectures were handled by the alumni for the benefit of final year and pre-final year students on topics such as “Emerging Trends in Computer graphics” by Suresh Rangarajulu, Intel, USA, “Current Industrial scenario” by S. Manohar, HCL Technologies, Chennai and Mr. T. Sivakumar, Ibiguity, USA.
Sponsorship to National conference - CMTM2005 : Alumni Association sponsored an amount of Rs. 5,000/- for the National Conference on Competitive Manufacturing technology and Management for Global Marketing (CMTM 2005) conducted during 7th and 8th , January 2005.
Alumni Memento 17th Graduates` Day : On 17th Graduates’ Day a memento was presented to all the graduating students by the Alumni Association.
